Nijo Castle fare for elementary school pupils

Both tickets for one elementary school pupil: a Honmaru Palace place at your party's entry time and castle admission with the Ninomaru Palace.

This fare follows the castle's category for elementary school pupils, usually aged about 6 to 12. It books a Honmaru Palace ticket at the same time as the adults in your party and castle admission with the Ninomaru Palace. Younger children go in free with you.

What this fare covers

The Honmaru Palace at your booked time, the castle grounds, the Ninomaru Palace and the gardens. The castle charges this level separately on both tickets, so it has its own fare.

On the day

The walk from the East Gate to the Honmaru Palace is about 850 metres, and inside the palace children walk in socks and can't touch the walls or screens. Bring a passport for each child in case staff ask.

Who it is not for

Children below elementary-school age don't need a fare; they go in free with you. Junior high students take the junior and high school fare.

Frequently asked

My child is five. Do they need a fare?
No. Children below elementary-school age go in free with you and the castle sells no ticket for them.
Is the visit too long for young children?
Allow two and a half to three hours for the whole castle, with a long walk between the gate and the inner ward. The main rest area is the place for a break and a snack.
